History of Cheddar’s
An American restaurant chain called Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen offers budget-friendly versions of American classics that are built from scratch. Doug Rogers and Aubrey Good established the business in Arlington, Texas, in 1979. By 1995, the franchise had ten locations, with the first one being in Arlington. In order to expand the business, Brazos Private Equity Partners made a first investment in Cheddar’s in 2003 when it had $150 million in annual revenue from 42 locations spread across 13 states. Cheddar’s was acquired by Oak Investment Partners and L Catterton Partners in August 2006, when the business had revenues of $245 million from 55 outlets spread over 15 states. As CEO, the business hired Kelly Baltes from Darden Restaurants in August 2007. Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen was acquired by Darden Restaurants in 2017.
